Return to Previous Page

CLASS DESCRIPTION

In this course, you will learn how to recognize an emergency and follow the emergency action steps: CHECK-CALL-CARE. You will also learn a number of first aid skills, such as how to perform rescue breathing, CPR, how to control bleeding and how to immobilize an injured body part.

These practices require strenuous activity. If you have a medical condition or disability that might prevent you from taking part in the practice sessions, or if you have any questions at all about your ability to participate fully in the First Aid/CPR/AED course, you should discuss it with your health-care provider before you attend this course.

Participants should dress in comfortable attire, keeping in mind that CPR/AED skills practice will be conducted on manikins on the floor.

Upon successful completion of the Sensible Safety, Inc., First Aid/CPR/AED course, you will receive one or more certificates. Certification requires each participant to demonstrate proper First Aid/CPR/AED skills as well as pass a “Written Evaluation”. The First Aid certificate is valid for 3 years. CPR and AED certificates are valid for 1 year. Available course options and approximate course lengths are as follows:

  • Standard First Aid with CPR/AED – Adult (Approximately 6 hours and 30 minutes)
  • Standard First Aid with CPR – Adult (Approximately 5 hours and 30 minutes)
  • CPR/AED – Adult (Approximately 4 hours and 30 minutes)
  • First Aid – Adult (Approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes)

CLASS SIZE

The Sensible Safety, Inc. First Aid/CPR/AED course outline and lesson plans have been developed for a class size of two (2) to six (6) participants. Sensible Safety, Inc. limits the size of this class to six (6) participants maximum in order to ensure adequate attention to each participant as well as to maximize the time allowed for participants skills practice. The more time that participants have to practice their skills, the more confident they will become and the more likely they will be to respond to an emergency situation.

CLASSROOM REQUIREMENTS

The Sensible Safety, Inc. First Aid/CPR/AED class requires a classroom suitable for lecture; class discussion; DVD presentation; First Aid/CPR/AED skills practice; and administration of a written exam. The room should be clean and sanitary, well lit, well ventilated and a comfortable temperature. Carpeting is preferred as participants will be performing skills practice on the floor.
